An earlier story featured a Pakhet Jones short novel starring the Big Tom. Dean Wesley Smith originally wrote this story for Year of the Cat volume #11 and when he'd finished it he knew he needed to write more about the Big Tom.So the Big Tom and his relationship with Pakhet Jones started with this story.
