Did your son physically abuse his former wife and now you are not allowed to see your grandchild(ren)? You are not alone.
This is my very raw and real story of my journey through unspeakable pain and grief after the secrets of physical abuse were exposed by my youngest son. I am the mother of a son who abused his former wife for two years. Along with my husband, two other adult children, and our parents, we all experienced the horror and heartbreak of abuse, but from a very different angle.
Not only did we lose our daughter-in-law through divorce, but through a series of events and broken promises, my entire family and I are not allowed to have any contact with my oldest grandson until he is an adult.
Spousal abuse has many victims and that includes the parent(s) of the abuser. No parent or grandparent should ever go through the unimaginable emotions and actions of others like we did. But unfortunately there are thousands of us who are shunned and left to grapple with the feelings of shame and ultimately loss of loved ones like our family did.
I pray you'll discover that all of us are never truly alone, even in the depths of agony and despair. Experiences like mine and my family's, rarely gets talked about and that's why I wrote this book, to give you hope. I also included some suggestions to help start you on your path to healing. I can't promise you that everything will be alright but I can share with you my story so you won't feel so alone or desperate.
