Psychologist Sara Bradley is called to a murder scene by LAPD Detective Sergeant Joe Hatch to comfort a five-year-old child who may have witnessed her mother's murder. In the process of working with the child, Sara finds herself triggered by haunting memories of her past. Attorney Michael Grey takes over the case of the man who confesses to the murder, but Michael is certain the man is covering up for someone. But who? While shifting through the conflicting threads of the case, Michael is thrown up against his violent past. What is he running from?A chance meeting between Sara and Michael fuels a mutual attraction, one that seems to be rooted somewhere in the past.
