Following a terrorist bombing, the leader of Grey River Search and Rescue finds an orphaned girl among the ruins of a medical facility. Once an end-stage leukemia patient, the girl was brought to the facility for an experimental treatment-- a treatment that not only cured her disease but radically improved her on a cellular level. Unfortunately, all records of her treatment were lost, so it falls upon one intrepid doctor at Grey River to isolate and reverse-engineer from the girl's blood something that may change human life forever.
