When a young man careens out of the sky to land in her lap, Vanessa's life is put in serious disarray. She's now (and apparently always has been) "Basilae," or a commander of those with special abilities. Adjusting to this takes some serious lifestyle changes. But there are also those that hunt ability-holders in an attempt control them, known as the Society of Magic, and they are much closer to home than you'd think. Vanessa, along with her new vassals, will have to tangle with these hunters, to try and free them all from the Society's grasp.
