Dealing with dying and death is a major nursing challenge for nursing students and can therefore also lead to emotional stress. The fact that young people have little experience of dying and death is partly due to the institutionalisation of dying and death. Students are often only confronted with the phenomenon of death during their theoretical training and with accompanying dying people during their practical training. This book explores how trainees in health and nursing care experience their role as carers for dying people in retirement and nursing homes. It also highlights the personal aspects and setting-specific factors that they perceive as relevant in their work and that they find stressful or relieving.
