This educational activity will describe the impact of hyperglycemia in the critical care setting, as well as research on the development of clinical targets for optimal glycemic control. The author, Cathy Moore, will discuss appropriatemanagement of hyperglycemia in critically ill patients,including current authoritative recommendations. She will also describe the benefits of electronic software programs that support individualized dosing protocols and have become thegold standard for insulin infusion management.
