Everett Addams, a stubborn artist who refuses to let anyone in, can't stand the way Roy is always frowning at her, pointing out her flaws, and getting whatever he wants, but what bothers her the most is how attractive he is. This intense academic rivalry between them is hard enough to bear before she found out about her friend's ongoing bet that Roy and her would hook up before the end of the summer. She's shocked when Roy joins the bet, convinced that they will get together before graduation, and when he wins, she will have to make a public announcement, admitting that he is smarter than her (aka her worst nightmare.) She thinks winning will be easy until Roy shows her how tempting he can be.
Roy Kerrigan, the hard headed CEO of his family's company, who hates everyone (except for her), hasn't seen Everett in two years since they graduated college and began their separate lives. Now, he is determined to make things work with Everett. He regretted making the bet as soon as he learned of Everetts troubled past, feeling guilt, which he'd never felt before. He must convince Everett to open up and be more trusting, even when they face these new obstacles that come from the world of business, financial struggles, and her secretive past. Together, they will have to decide if they will always be enemies, or if they can create their own ending, where there's no bet keeping them apart.
