Lamictus never knew his mother. He grew up in the wilds of Louisiana. His school burns down and he goes on the road, utterly alone. He meets a minister, Reverend Scruggs who gives him a place to live. They both knew it was a temporary arrangement. Eventually Reverend Scruggs passes him off to Mr. Powers, an evangelist trainer. From there, St. John, formerly Lamictus, learns a living as an evangelist. Amazing things happen to mold St. John's life. Eventually, something amazing transforms St. John's life.
