Jacob was born to wrestle. He was born to parents who had wrestled with barrenness. He entered the world wrestling for position as he grasped his twin brother's heel. From there, he wrestled with his call and identity, continuing to grasp for what he felt was his. He would try to fulfill God's call and His promises in his own strength. Jacob's wrestling led him away from home and into a new set of challenges to wrestle. He wrestled with in-laws, wives, work, and still with his call and identity. Finally, he wrestled with God, received a new name, and was forever changed.
This study surveys Jacob's life from when his father, Isaac, prayed for his mother, Rebekah, to overcome barrenness.
