Beats Hippies and the Counter Culture is part one of the Hippie Trilogy. The main focus points are the Counter Culture, Western movies, Native Americans and Music. The book attempts to illustrate how these elements interacted and influenced some of the events of the sixties. The music we listened to during our youth become a part of our identity. The music of this period is now firmly cemented in an ageing generation. Just as visually Westerns became a form of mythical history that influenced male culture during the 1950's and was revived during the sixties. This book shows the connections between many of these elements that contributed to the evolution of the Counter Culture.
