Jim "Beers" Biersovich thinks he is escaping his nerve-wracking past, when crime and murder dogged his every step. But there is no escape, as he soon finds out in "Bayou Beers."
Beers quits his job as head of security at a Minneapolis department store and moves downriver to New Orleans, where friend and former co-worker Lena Fangeaux has relocated. He gets a job as a deejay and befriends a young musician named Phineas Stoke. When Phineas is murdered, Beers once again is compelled to put on his deerstalker cap and figure out who killed Phineas and why.
He reassembles the team that solved crimes at the store. Tina McEntire joins them in the endeavor and the trio formally establishes the Beers Detective Agency .
A former sportswriter, Beers has no formal training in detective work. His passion is classic rock; he collects LPs, 8-tracks and cassettes from the '60s and '70s. But his musical knowledge always provides a key to the identity of the perpetrator, as it does in this city where jazz and blues are the lifeblood of the community.
