Basic Vehicle Dynamics and Suspension Design

This textbook combines methodologies of vehicle dynamics with modeling, analysis, and optimization of suspension systems, power train, and aerodynamics. Chapter topics provide the reader with a broad range of design concepts. The book begins with an introduction of the design process and an overview of basic suspension systems. Subsequent chapters focus on fundamental mathematical modeling of vehicle dynamics and vehicle interaction with a road surface. The book strives to combine a hands-on approach to the mechanical design of suspension components along with the related theoretical concepts. The material presents these concepts at a fairly deep level, providing understanding and insight into the application of vehicle dynamics theory. The textbook is addressed primarily to senior level engineering students; however, the book is written in a self-study style.
