Australia's Stonehenge

This book tells of a discovery that some now believe to be the oldest temple in the world. In the 1860's, in the Northern Rivers region of far north New South Wales, Australia. The bulk of the indigenous culture that cared for an Australian arrangement of standing stones erected at least ten-thousand years ago were hunted down and massacred. In 1945, the stones were secretly bulldozed, and the proof of an ancient civilisation was almost destroyed. In 2013, this sacred site was rediscovered. Long missing documents told of an expedition in 1938 to the site and how it was the most important archaeological place in the world. The expedition had for 60 years been shrouded in secrecy and the 188 giant standing stone's location hidden. This book examines the origins and purpose of a prehistoric grand ritual site and why a genocide kept it secret for so long.
