Miss Bisset plays the role of the regal, sensitive and rebellious Anna, a beautiful and sensuous woman bound to a loveless marriage by the conventions of the Russian social system of her time yet torn between her duties to her position and a passionate love for another man; Count Aleksey Vronsky, the handsome young captain whose reciprocal, consuming love for Anna offers her a touch of the happiness and freedom she had never attained and the possibility of complete destruction.
