Employee work Performance appraisal has become an essential tool for managing business organizations as well as helping to keep track of employees and organizational performance. Staff appraisal is referred to as some activities that allow collecting, verify, compare, transmit, update and use information gathered from employees and concerning them. Every step in this process is aimed at determining the effects of work carried out and potential opportunities useful for the Civil Service. This book aimed at investigating the effectiveness of employee work performance appraisal system in the Civil Service from the perceptions of employees using a study of five ministries in Sierra Leone. The study employed a quantitative approach to social research.. The findings from the research show that the purposes for conducting employee work performance appraisal in the Ministries included for promotional purposes, for correcting the weaknesses in employee assignments, providing feedback on work done, setting employee targets and objectives and identifying and developing employee training needs.
