Aci, Galatea e Polifemo in Bloomington, MN

As mounted at Turin's Teatro Carignano in June 2009, this stage production constitutes an interpretation of Georg Friedrich Händel's 1708 dramatic cantata +Aci, Galatea e Polifemo, co-staged by the Teatro Regio Torino and the Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli. The production stars soprano Ruth Rosique as Aci, mezzo Sara Mingardo as Galatea, and bass Antonio Abete as Polifemo, with mimes played by Cristina Banchetti, Luisa Baldinetti] and Sax Nicosia. The Cappella della Pieta de' Turchini lends musical accompaniment under the baton of Antonio Florio; Giusi Giustino designed the costumes; and Davide Livermore directed and designed the sets.
