In this as in every other of my works. I have given my naked reflections to the reader. Too much of my life has been spent in actual travelling, to admit the order and polish of a writer who enjoyed more closet leisure; but to relate what I saw, needed not a finished erudition, it demanded a respect for truth and human esteem; a respect, the sense of which I trust never to lose, until I cease to exist amongst mankind.
