About this book: In 1996 I accepted a position to work in a newly built Special Care Unit to care for residents with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Prior to the opening of the new unit, I would wake up with Psalm 88 in my thoughts. This would later prove to be a very important Psalm. The first time I read this Psalm, I thought something disastrous was going to happen to me or my family. Some mornings while praying, this Psalm continued to be in my thoughts. I started to think that fear from an evil spirit was trying to penetrate my thoughts, so I started to reject those thoughts. However, because of my ignorance of God's sovereignty, I was wrong. To my amazement, Psalm 88 I believe reveals the hidden trauma and torment one may experience with Alzheimer's disease. This book explains what I have learned from Psalm 88. I believe God speaks or reveals knowledge to each individual differently who truly know Him in the uniqueness of how He has created us. I did not write this book to offend anyone, but to give hope and healing to the reader. We certainly pray for healing, but until healing comes, we can learn the best ways to cope with the disease and to minister to those afflicted.
