Xavier William Lennox undergoes cosmetic surgery to live among an alien race he is trying to comprehend. When he returns from his mission, he undergoes the surgery again, becoming yet another kind of alien. And again, and again -- and each time he returns there is a little less of the human being inside him. Where can it all end?
