A book documenting what it is like to live with a hidden chronic illness, 10 years in the making, finally realized. At the age of 14 years old, I became very ill and no one could figure out exactly what was wrong with me. At that very crucial age in development, I spent hours and hours in agony, searching for help from doctors and nurses. After years of looking for help, at the age of 16 I was diagnosed with an incurable chronic illness: endometriosis. It was the summer before I turned 17 and I was now tasked with making decisions about my future health I did not quite understand at the time.Fast forward to the present, I am 29 years old and trying to navigate life with endometriosis. I never fully understood the toll this illness would take on me until this very moment. I had always dreamed about writing my journey out for those who couldn't understand what I was dealing with. I had hoped that maybe someone else who was suffering would find my book and feel a comfort in that they were not suffering alone. I hoped that maybe my story would help others suffering with a chronic illness, or just suffering with trauma in general, find a way to navigate on through. I just wanted to share my story in the hopes of helping someone else. Thank you always for reading.
