A Kiss of Promise

Alaina has given up hope that Martin Blackstone will return her love. She prepares to re-enter London's social scene. Plans change when Phillip Harrington, her deceased father's previous business partner, appears and threatens her with blackmail. He reveals damaging evidence that could destroy her beloved brother's life unless she agrees to a ruse that will help him close a lucrative deal her father's death left unfinished. Sacrificing her respectability, she leaves London with Harrington on a voyage to America posing as his fiancé.
