When 10-year-olds James and Carl were convicted of brutally murdering a three-year-old boy, the entire world hoped the killers would be locked away for life. Eight years later, the unthinkable happens: On his last day in office, Ohio governor Frank Templeton pardons James and Carl. Released back into society amidst a national uproar, James and Carl assume new identities, and struggle to pick up the pieces of their broken lives. As they soon find out, however, the sins of their shared past will never fade with time.
