Flirtatious clock-maker Georg Elser (Christian Friedel) is awakened to political action in 1939 after noticing how Adolf Hitler's policies are leading Germany someplace sinister. His account of how he placed a homemade bomb under a podium in a Munich beer hall on November 8th, 1939 is intercut with his torture and confession at the hands of Gestapo agents after he is arrested.
