Security is hard to find, even in a closely knit family. Thirteen year-old Lily can't count on having her own bedroom after two cousins move into the house. From week to week, her world changes, even as the farm remains the same. WWII is somewhere else, until her uncle is drafted. Then an empty mailbox becomes a worry. Her live-in cousin commits a series of escalating violent acts that brings about a crisis. Lily worries about where she belongs in the family as she comes to realize life has more questions than answers.
