The Lost Ones
moves back and forth in time, between the two main characters, Sam and Hank, portraying Hank's life leading up to the apocalypse, during, and after. Sam's narrative begins with him waking up, discovering he has lost the memories of his life before Hank, and sets upon traveling with him seeing places from his past, which unlock memories of old-for better or worse.
illustrates how easy it is to lose oneself, how varied and unique a life can break, the beauty and pain of relationships, and above all else, humanity.
