On the basis of his play "The Merchant of Venice" Shakespeare is charged with anti-Semitism. This script presents a courtroom scene in which Shakespeare mounts his own defense against the Crown. The evidence presented against Shakespeare consists of all those scenes in which Shylock (the Jewish money lender of Venice) appears. The play concludes with a verdict determined by the audience.
