The year is 1996. "Independence Day" is the number one movie at the theaters," Macarena" is the number one song on the radio waves, "Bill Clinton" is in the White House for a second term, and being gay is still a crime in twenty-eight countries around the world. Unfortunately, it also seems to be illegal in every high school in America.
After years of being bullied at school for being different, fifteen-year-old closet-gay, Josh, moves from the Midwest to sunny Southern California with his conservative family. He sees this opportunity as a fresh start and reinvents himself as one of the football players at the new school. He has been training for months and thinks that by becoming a football player, he will make his father, an ex-football player, proud and finally become bully free at school, as he will be one of the jocks ending this way all the doubts about his sexuality at school.
Arriving at the new school, Josh realizes things will not be as easy as he planned. He immediately grabs the attention of the school reporters, Jessy, a beautiful black girl that is a closet lesbian because she is the daughter of the most famous evangelical pastor of the town, and Brendan, a shy feminine Latino guy, that is also a closet gay. In order to keep his straight persona, Josh does everything to avoid those two.
However, Josh realizes his biggest problem hiding his sexuality will be Alex, the school's quarterback. Alex has beautiful grey eyes, a perfectly sculpted body, and a smile that weakens Josh's knees. The only problem is that Alex is straight and has a serious relationship with the beautiful cheerleader, Hanna.
