On her grandmother's deathbed, Hazel Compton makes a promise that lands her in the small town of Melbye. She thought her college past was behind her until she finds herself face to face with a monster on her first night in the new tiny town. If it weren't for Melbye's hero fireman, Dane Hennie, she'd have left and never looked back. As life begins to look up, Hazel prepares to keep her promise to her grandmother until human remains are uncovered at the bottom of Melbye Canal.
