I decided to write this book based on some fond memories I had growing up as a pre teen boy aged 11 in the early 60's. My friends and I were always finding things to do mainly outside. I had friends that lived by the woods while also other friends who lived by the school. I am not bragging when I write about various things myself and my friends got to do when growing up. I realize now that as I got older that I had a dream childhood. When I think back it's almost hard to believe that I had that much freedom at such an early age within limits ofcourse. I liked fishing, camping, hiking, biking, and playing sports especially basketball.I hope the title doesn't make readers think this book will be about fishing all the time. While I doubt that you would, I just wanted to touch base with my readers right here to say that you would be glad to allow me to take you back in time. Right away I need to say that I sure didn't grow up in a wealthy family by any means. But it always seemed like our parents made sure to buy my sisters and I everying we needed. They had a special focus to buy us some of the things we were dreaming of getting. My dream was to get a new fishing rod, a ten speed bike, a basketball and a pair of tennis shoes. I started to read a lot of fishing magazines at my friends just down the street. I then started to realize based on those stories that it was every anglers dream to catch that one big bass that would sort of define them. For me though it became a focus to just catch a pretty big bass just to be able to say that I did when talking with other fishermen. As the story unfolds you might dream of something magical happen to you like it did with me. Something that encourages you to focus on a goal or quest to reach that goal. This story is easy to write because I remember having such a great time growing up. Memories are the greatest thing and need to be shared. So I begin this short story of my youth growing up aged 9 to 11.
