Montgomery's voice finds common space with Jeff Buckley's, Bruce Springsteen's, and Skip Spence's, and is among the most alluring instruments in early millennial indie music. Once his voice gets drenched in reverb--as producer Jason Quever does throughout the album's 10 tracks--forget about it: Montgomery's hooks are firmly in place and there's no escaping.
