Mary Ruth Furr was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Her mother died when Mary Ruth was 4 years old. Her father remarried and the family moued to Pegram, Tennessee about 18 miles from Nashuille. She attended Dauid Lipscomb from the 7th grade until she graduated from Lipscomb University with a BS degree in Education. Mary Ruth taught school in Kentucky for 2 years and she and her husband, Rick, moued to Indian Land, South Carolina. She taught elementary Physical Education and 7th grade Science for 3 years, as well as coaching girls basketball. Mary Ruth gave birth to her 3rd child in 1985 and in 1986 joined the business world and held a variety of different positions. Mary Ruth retired in 2019 and has enjoyed her 6 grandsons when she can. She writes poetry and enjoys helping others.
