The aim of this study was to evaluate the protective effect of Zingiber officinale powder on sexual behavior, reproductive organ weight and semen characteristics in male rabbits exposed to monosodium glutamate (MSG). A total of 30 male New Zealand rabbits, aged 5 months and weighing on average 1382±290g, were randomly divided into 5 groups of comparable weight, each comprising 6 rabbits. Animals were orally treated for 10 weeks with one of the following treatments containing either Zingiber officinale and/or GMS: 10ml water for animals in batch 1 (T1: negative control), 100mg/kg live weight GMS and 600mg/kg PV Zingiber officinale for animals in batch 2 (T2), 250mg/kg live weight (P.V) of MSG and 600mg/kg of Zingiber officinale PV for animals in batch 3 (T3), 500mg/kg of MSG live weight and 600mg/kg of Zingiber officinale PV for animals in batch 4 (T4) and 500mg/kg of MSG live weight for animals in batch 5 (T5 positive control). The results indicate that administration of Zingiber officinale powder to rabbits exposed to monosodium glutamate induced.
