Elizabeth Prentiss was a remarkable woman who authored a number of notable works in the 19th century. A writing prodigy, she used her sharp abilities to author stories poems, and even hymns despite much tragedy in her life. As she later stated, her purpose in writing, "Much of my experience of life has cost me a great price and I wish to use it for strengthening and comforting other souls."
