This book was written by Soul Trade #3 main character Evelyn Freeman as a part of a capstone project for a writing class she takes before the events of book three begin. This work is important to share because in writing these poems, she starts to become more self-aware of the scars she carries and that impacts what happens next...
Evelyn writes-
Dear Dr. Jane Caldwell,
This is my capstone project created from the perspective of contemporary artist and dancer, Summer Cody based on her work "My Life As A Ghost". Summer justified her creations by saying-
As a ghost I feel that there is not adequate representation of people like me. People with complex identities and deep physical, emotional, and intergenerational wounds that have been unaddressed; people who have survived a traumatic event, moved to the After life and then feel forgotten by those around them. Those people are people like me...and together, we are ghosts. I hope my work provides comfort so that they know...that we know, we are not alone.
This capstone is a poetry book that expresses my understanding of the expressions of her experience. This assignment has helped me accept that I am a survivor, too.
Sincerely,
Evelyn Freeman
