The Defense Security Service is charged with the mission of assisting the cleared defense industry in the recognition and reporting of foreign contacts and collection attempts, as outlined in the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual. This annual trends report is made possible by the cumulative effort of cleared defense contractors reporting suspicious activity to their facility security officers and ultimately to the DSS.
